To stop washing boats with drinking water, Monawa desalinates seawater
[Monawa, the Côte d'Azur company, is innovating with ecostations that allow boats to be washed with desalinated seawater, thus reducing drinking water consumption. Already installed in several ports on the Côte d'Azur, these stations represent an ecological alternative to the challenges of drought.
"We didn't invent desalination, but we reinvented the way to use it at the port level," explains Wilfried Point, founder of Monawa. "There is a figure: one. There is 1% of drinking water in the world," he explains. "And of the 150 liters of drinking water that a French person consumes each day, only 1% is used for drinking. For everything else, we don't need drinking water and yet..."
More than a technical solution, it is about "changing behavior" towards sustainable water management in boating.]
